Aayansh’s POV
My phone buzzed.
I picked it up, expecting a message from Ruhi but the number was unfamiliar. I opened it.
It was from Shrey.
Hey, it’s Shrey. Ruhi’s best friend. I want to talk to you alone without Ruhi knowing.
I’ll send you the address. Tell me when you’re free.
I stared at the screen for a moment before replying.
Okay. How about tomorrow afternoon?
Okay, he replied.
A moment later, he sent the location. After that silence.
I put my phone aside and went to sleep, though sleep didn’t come easily.
The Next Day
I wrapped up my work and left for the place Shrey had asked me to come to.
I hadn’t spoken properly with Ruhi today. She had an important project, so we barely talked. Still, she promised me a surprise this weekend to make up for it.
I missed her.
But strangely… I was also excited.
I’ve always hated surprises. Yet now, I was actually looking forward to hers. The thought made me smile the entire ride.
I snapped out of my thoughts when my assistant spoke.
“Sir, we’ve reached.”
He was staring at me oddly.
“What?” I asked. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“You’re… smiling,” he said.
“So? I can’t smile?”
“No, no,” he said quickly. “It’s just… I’ve never seen you smile before. It’s kind of creepy.”
He murmured that last part. But i still heard it
Before I could respond, my phone buzzed.
It was Ruhi.
Have your lunch on time, okay?
A smile spread across my face instantly.
Yes, boss. And you also have your lunch on time.
I glanced at my assistant again but didn’t say anything. I stepped out of the car, my mood visibly better because of my Ruuh.
Though I knew one thing
it probably wouldn’t stay that way after meeting that chippku.
Meeting Shrey
As I entered the place, I saw him, Shrey already seated. He looked at me but didn’t speak.
I went and sat across from him.
A full minute passed in silence.
Finally, I spoke. “Why did you ask me to come here and not even allow me to tell Ruhi?”
He scoffed. But then said
You know I hate you.”
“I don’t care if you hate me,” I replied calmly. “My Ruhi likes me. That’s enough for me.”
“You” he snapped, then controlled himself. “I don’t want to argue. I’ll get straight to the point.”
“I talked to Ruhi yesterday. And after talking to her, I could tell she really likes you.”
“That, I know,” I said, smirking.
I saw his jaw tighten, his fists clench.
“Listen, Aayansh,” he said through gritted teeth. “Ruhi is very important to me. I won’t allow anyone to hurt her. If you ever make her cry, I swear I’ll make sure you never see her again.”
I clenched my fists too. “I would never hurt her. I won’t allow anyone else to hurt her either. And I won’t let anyone take her away from me.”
“That time will tell,” he replied coolly. Then he smirked.
“But what about her brothers? Especially Rishabh bhai?”
My expression stiffened.
“Do you know how protective he is of Ruhi?” Shrey continued. “Back in college, a guy was pursuing her. When Rishabh found out… no one knows what he did. That guy was never seen again.”
Then he stood up.
“Oh, I’ll leave now,” he said casually. “I’ve got work. Ruhi’s waiting. And I need to pack too, Ruhi and I am going to the UK tomorrow.”
He smirked at me and walked away.
I stayed seated, staring ahead, my thoughts tangled.
Back at the Office
I tried working, but Shrey’s words echoed in my mind.
I knew it when Ruhi’s family found out about us, there would be drama. They were extremely protective of her. Even that little chippku is protective of her, he barely left us alone when i wanted to be with my Ruhh. still i can manage them.
But Rishabh… he is very protective of his family but he he is extremely protective of Ruhh.
I could tell he wouldn’t hesitate before killing me.
I pushed the thought aside. I’d deal with it later.
Right now, I just wanted to talk to Ruhi.
I called her.No answer.
I texted her.Nothing.
I wanted to ask her why she hadn’t told me about the UK trip especially with him.
By evening, I was frustrated.
At Singhania Mansion
After dinner, I sat in my room, my phone resting in my hand as I waited for Ruhi’s message or a call.
Nothing came.
I had even thought about going to her office in the evening, just to see her. But I stopped myself. What if she thought I was getting too clingy? What if she felt I wasn’t giving her enough space?
The thought only made things worse.
I leaned back against the bed, running a hand through my hair, frustration building with every passing minute.
Ugh… I was really frustrated.
I couldn’t take it anymore.
I grabbed my car keys and left for her home.
At Raichand Mansion
I climbed up the pipe and entered her balcony.
I peeked into her room empty.
Then I heard the shower.
I went inside and sat on her bed.
A few minutes later, the shower stopped. The door opened, and Ruhi walked in, wearing her night dress, towel in hand, busy drying her hair.
She didn’t notice me at first.
Then she did.
She was about to scream but I rushed forward and covered her mouth.
“It’s me,” I whispered.
She stepped back, looked at me properly, then hit my chest.
“Are you crazy?” she scolded. “You scared me! I thought a thief came in.”
I smiled. “Well, I am a thief. I came to steal your heart, your soul… and you.”
She tried to look angry, but the blush on her face betrayed her. She looked unbearably cute.
“What are you doing here, Aayansh? And this late?”
“I couldn’t stay away,” I said honestly. “I called and texted so many times. You didn’t reply, so I came to check if you’re okay.”
“Oh,” she said. “My phone stopped working today. It just switched off. I tried everything but it didnt worked, so I bought a new one on the way back.”
She pointed to the phone on the table.
“Oh,” I said, relieved. Then I gently pulled her toward the dressing table. “Sit.”
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“Helping you dry your hair. Where’s the hairdryer?”
She opened the drawer, handed it to me.
As I dried her hair, she kept staring at me.
“Don’t look at me like that, Ruhi,” I warned softly. “I won’t be able to control myself.”
She blushed and looked down immediately.
I turned off the dryer, placed it on the table, lifted her chin gently.
Our faces were inches apart.
She closed her eyes.
I leaned in and that's when
Ring… ring
My phone rang.
She opened her eyes. And I pulled back.
“I swear, I’ll kill whoever this is,” I muttered.
It was Vivan.
I’m going to kill him.”
I picked up the call. “Speak quickly. If it’s something stupid, I swear I’ll strangle you.”
“You want to strangle your dad?”
I froze. “Dad.. Dad! It’s not like that. I mean… Why did you call?”
“At this hour?”
“It was urgent. I’ll finish and come back. You should sleep.”
“Okay. Come home early.”
“Hmm. Bye.”
I hung up.
Ruhi was trying not to laugh.
“Do you find this funny?” I asked.
She burst out laughing.
I sat on her bed, pretending to be angry but I couldn’t stay angry while she laughed like that.
“You look cute when you’re scared,” she teased. “But you look even cuter when you try to act angry.”
I pulled her onto my lap.
She went silent instantly.
“What happened now?” I teased. “Why so quiet, wild cat?”
She pushed me away and sat beside me. “Well… how come you’re here?”
Nice try, changing the topic.
“You’re going to the UK,” I said. “And you didn’t tell me. Why?”
“I was going to,” she replied. “But my phone died. I was about to tell you after setting it up.
It’s for a project we have a meeting there.”
“Oh,” I said.
“Wait how do you know I’m going to the UK?” she asked suspiciously.
“I have my sources.”
“Are you stalking me?”
“I wouldn’t mind stalking you.”
She laughed. “Yeah, then you’ll message me like ‘Oh hi, it’s Aayansh. You’re on a mutual friends list, so I followed you. Don’t think I’m stalking you.’”
I groaned. “Why do you remember that?”
“I remember everything about you.”
That made me smile.
She yawned, clearly exhausted.
“You should sleep,” I said.
“I’m tired,” she admitted. “I had a lot of work today.”
She lay down on the bed. I stood up and she immediately held my hand.
“You’re leaving?”
“No. Just removing my jacket.”
I removed it and sat beside her.
She moved closer, hugged me, rested her head on my chest.
I stroked her hair gently.
Within minutes, she fell asleep.
I placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
And soon after I also slept.
