“Operation Don’t Tell Ruhi… Yet”

Authors POV

As Aayansh entered the room, he saw his entire family and close friends sitting there. Obviously, Aditya and his family were not present.

His mom was sitting on the bed with folded hands, staring straight at him.

As he scanned the room, he realized every single person was looking at him expectantly, like he was about to confess to a crime.

He opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, Arav cut in.
“Wait.”

He grabbed a chair from the corner, placed it right in the center of the room facing everyone, and said dramatically, “Sit.”
Then he went back to his place, like a king who had just decreed justice.

Aayansh sighed and sat down, trying to look calm, though internally he was already panicking.
“Mom, what happened? Why did you call me here?”

She raised an eyebrow. “You don’t know why I called you?”

“I kind of… know,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Then what are you waiting for? Spill it.”

Aayansh took a deep breath.
“Mom… you know, Ruhh…ii  he was about to call her Ruh but stopped himself, and said ruhi wasn’t able to walk. So, as a good person, I just picked her up and helped her. That’s it.”

Everyone’s eyes narrowed like lasers.

His father scoffed. “Boy, do you think we’re stupid?”

His mother jumped in immediately. “Then what about flirting? The way you were playing with her dupatta? And glaring at her friend like you wanted to kill him?”

He glared at Reya.

Reya raised both hands, trying to look innocent. “Don’t look at me! I didn’t say anything. You were so obvious anyone could guess it!”

His mother crossed her arms. “Are you going to tell us everything, or not?”

“Okay, fine. I’ll say it.”

He took a deep breath.
“Mom, remember when I told you about a girl… the one who made me feel something I couldn’t explain?”

Everyone nodded, leaning in like this was some blockbuster reveal.

“That girl was Ruhi,” he said quietly. “I know at the start we didn’t get along, but even then… When I first saw her, I felt something different. After that, when I actually got to know her, I started getting attracted to her. At first, I didn’t understand the feeling. But now I do.”

He swallowed.
“I like her.”

The room went completely silent.

Then suddenly, his sister screamed, “YES! I knew it! It’s Ruhi di!”

She ran to Dhruv and Vivan like she had just uncovered a hidden treasure.

Both boys groaned. “Fine, fine… we’ll transfer the money.”

Aayansh blinked. “You guys bet on me?”

They smiled sheepishly.

His dad finally broke the silence. “Finally! My son likes someone. I thought I’d never see the day. Now I can actually imagine you getting married.”

Everyone nodded enthusiastically.

His mother clapped her hands dramatically.
“Yes! About marriage… We should talk to the Raichands, right?”

His chachi added excitedly, “Yes, yes! We’ll talk about it. Maybe after this wedding, we can start planning another one!”

Before Aayansh could reply, his Dadi declared proudly, “Don’t worry. I’ll talk with them myself.”

Within seconds, the room had transformed into a full blown wedding planning committee. Everyone was talking at once, like a symphony of chaos.

Aayansh stared at them in horror.
“STOP!”

Everyone froze and looked at him with the look of what was wrong.

“No one is going to say anything to anyone!” he said firmly. “I want to do this myself. I haven’t even told Ruhi about my feelings yet. First, I need to tell her… then win her heart. When everything works out, THEN we can talk about marriage.”

Everyone nodded in agreement, though the teasing smiles never left their faces.

Just as everyone finished nodding, there was a soft knock on the door.

Everyone froze.

Aayansh felt his soul leave his body.

Before anyone could react, the door opened

And Ruhi stepped inside, wearing a soft pastel anarkali, looking calm and radiant, completely unaware that the Singhania clan was behaving like they were running an illegal operation.

“Aunty, you called me?” she asked politely.

His mother, who was literally five minutes away from fixing his marriage, suddenly stood up like a school kid caught cheating.
“Yes! YES, beta! I… uh… called you because…” She looked around frantically.

Ruhi frowned. “Is… everything okay?”

No one answered. They just stared.

“Yes, everything is okay, beta,” his mom said quickly. “It’s just that Riya was getting anxious before the wedding. You know how it feels before getting married.”

Arav snorted, “How would she know? She’s not married.”

Everyone glared at him like he just said something illegal.

His mom waved him off. “Don’t listen to him. To comfort Riya, we were all talking about how we felt before our weddings. I thought if you were here, it would also help you. I mean it would help Riya feel better.”

Ruhi looked at Riya, who was sitting confidently. Her chachi nudged her, and Riya dramatically exclaimed,
“Yes, Ruhi! I was really worried about married life. How will it be? And Aadi… he won’t stop loving me after marriage, right?” She wiped fake tears.

Ruhi instantly got worried and went to her.
“Everything will be fine. And if Aadi ever makes you cry, come to me I’ll beat him!”

Everyone was shocked and also happy and impressed by Ruhi’s protectiveness .

“Okay, stop worrying. And don’t cry. From tomorrow onwards, the functions start, and I don’t want my soon to be bhabhi to have puffy eyes.”

“Oh, don’t worry. I’m not even crying really,” Riya blurted out, causing everyone to facepalm.

Before anyone could breathe, the door flew open.

Aayan the chippku burst in like a tiny tornado.
“BUIIIII!” he screamed.

Before anyone could react, he lunged at Ruhi, climbed into her lap, wrapped his arms around her neck, and glared at everyone like they were trying to steal his Buii from him.

Ruhi instinctively held him. “Aayan! What happened?”

Aayan pointed at Aayansh accusingly.
“He is stealing you from me Bui!”

The room went silent for two seconds… then erupted into laughter.

Aayansh wanted to vanish.
“I WAS NOT stealing your Bui!” he shouted.

“Yes, you were!” Aayan shot back.
“You were staring at her with your big big eyes like this.”
He tried to make his eyes look bigger , opening his eyes wide and leaning forward.

Ruhi’s face turned bright red.
Aayansh could literally feel himself melting.

“Bas! Stop lying!” he snapped.
“I.. that’s not.. I mean, I wasn’t” he stuttered, completely exposed.

Before he could recover, another chippku entered Shrey.
“Ruhi, where’s your phone? I had called  you so many times.”

“Sorry, I forgot it in the room. Why are you looking for me?”

“Oh yes, let’s go! I was looking for you to practice our sangeet dance. You know, we need to win and show how amazing ladke wale { grooms side} is!” he said, glaring at Aayansh and everyone.

Riya chimed in, “What do you mean? Ladki wale{ bride's side} is going to win!”

“Oh, that we’ll see,” Shrey replied.
“Yes, Bui, let’s go! I’m also dancing with you.”

Before Aayansh could react, both chippkus dragged her out.

Aayansh looked at Riya. “You told me you would pair me with Ruhi… then how did this turn into ladke wale vs ladki wale?”{Groom sides vs Bride side}

Riya rubbed the back of her neck. “Aditya and I were fighting over this, and I said the bride’s side will be better at dancing. And all this happened. Sorry.” She hid behind his father.

Aayansh stared in disbelief. “Now I will also cancel your Chanel bag.”

“Nooo!” Riya screamed.

“Yes,” he replied, and left the room, defeated but secretly amused.
